In-line four cylinder engines are primarily used in sports bikes due to their compact size and ability to be tuned for maximum BHP and maximum speed. The Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa – the world's fastest production motorcycle – is fitted with an in-line four cylinder engine that churns out 194 BHP! Most Moto GP bikes (with the exception of Ducati) have in-line four engines, which may explain why the fastest bikes have in-line four engines as well. They tend to come in anything between 600cc and 1400cc but are most commonly known to be fitted to the most popular sports 600 and 1000.
