This type of engine is used almost exclusively by Triumph throughout their model range. In-line triples (three cylinders parallel to one another) are reputed to offer the best compromise between the torque of a twin engine and the BHP of an in-line four. They are fitted to the majority of Triumphs, from their sports bikes and muscle bikes to their cruisers and tourers – a testament to the flexibility of the engine. They are much smoother then twin engines and not as rev happy as in-line fours.

Some bikes that use triple cylinder engines include the Triumph Daytona 675, Triumph Speed Triple 1050, Triumph Rocket 111 2294cc.
