Yamaha insurance customers should not be concerned about the MotoGP team's performance at Qatar, says rider Ben Spies.
Spies could only manage sixth place, and although Jorge Lorenzo came second, both Yamaha machines looked to be short on speed when compared with the Repsol Honda bikes.
However, Spies says that in a couple of races the group will know exactly where improvements need to be made, but the bike is still a good one to be riding at the moment.
He told the Motorcycle News: "As a rider you always want more traction and more power and we could use both.
"We know the balance of the bike is good and we're not going to have a big problem."
Spies went on to reveal that the Yamaha M1's major strength is its ability to work well in a variety of different conditions.
The American rider is in his second season in MotoGP, having been named Rookie of the Year in the last campaign following some strong performances for Tech 3.
