A growth in the number of potholes on Britain's roads has led one motoring organisation to warn drivers and motorcycle insurance customers alike to be careful.
Drivers are being reminded by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) to be conscious of cyclists and motorcyclists on the road this bank holiday weekend, as they are particularly vulnerable to deteriorated road surfaces.
"Bikers and cyclists need to look well ahead and change direction early, so they have time to deal with the holes, and their movements don't cause surprise," said IAM chief examiner Peter Rodger.
Wet weather could make cracked roads even more dangerous according to the IAM and all road users are being urged to report all potholes they see to a local authority to prevent accidents, which increase motorcycle insurance premiums.
The IAM recently backed a move by the government to crack down on uninsured motorists, which it claims are far more likely to be involved in accidents.
