Casey Stoner dominates to take Qatar win

Honda insurance customers witnessed a dominant display from Casey Stoner in the first MotoGP race of the season.

After a cautious start from pole position, Stoner found his rhythm and left his competitors trailing behind to take victory in his first race for the Repsol Honda team.

Stoner had been the clear favourite for the race, having repeatedly set the fastest times in pre-season testing, but the Australian chose to ride tactically, establishing the bike's capabilities before pushing as hard as he could.

"When I started to feel more confident with the bike and had more grip and better turning, we decided to push forwards and take advantage. Tonight the bike was fantastic, as it has been for all the sessions," he said.

With the other bikes on the MotoGP grid seeming to be some distance behind the Honda, Stoner will be looking to capitalise at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez on April 3rd.
