Triumph insurance customers have learnt that one of Britain's best-loved bikes has come in for a top industry award.
In a gruelling test which covered over 2,000 miles in three days, Triumph's Daytona 675 was pitted against others in the sports bike category by Motorcycle News (MCN).
The Yamaha R1, Aprilia RSV4 Factory and KTM RC8R were also put through their paces on some of the toughest road conditions by the MCN team, including towns, mountain climbs and four laps of the 37.73-mile TT course.
Finally the Daytona 675 emerged triumphant as MCN's Sports Bike of the Year 2009, hot on the heels of a fourth consecutive Supersport category win at Supertest.
MCN commented: "The Triumph Daytona charmed us with its mix of real-world ability, brilliant chassis, characterful engine and slick looks."
Triumph saw operating profits soar by 16 per cent last year to £14.5 million, due in part to strong sales of the Daytona.
