Suzuki insurance customers could soon be able to get their hands on the first hydrogen-powered scooter.
The Japanese manufacturer has developed a fuel cell version of its popular Burgman scooter and has now gained crucial accreditation from the EU.
After being awarded Whole Vehicle Type Approval, the Burgman Fuel-Cell has become the first such-powered vehicle to get that accreditation in the EU.
Suzuki has been treating the vehicle on UK roads, with a view to completely a full production model for the British market.
The company explains that that the light, compact air-cooled fuel cell and hydrogen tank propel the engine and thus the scooter, with the only by-product of the process being water.
