Ducati insurance customers will be pleased to hear that Valentino Rossi is still making good progress with the development of the manufacturer's MotoGP bike.
After being some way off the leaders in the pre-season test, Rossi managed to record the fifth-fastest time in the free practice session on worn tyres and was only one-tenth of a second off the second-placed rider.
Having made quick progress throughout the session, Rossi is confident the team will be able to make some more improvements in the second practice and have a good qualifying period on Saturday (March 19th).
He explained: "We're all pretty satisfied with this first free practice because we worked well throughout the entire session.
"Although we still have to improve some more things on the bike, now I don't have to push so hard and it is turning better."
Rossi is still recovering from shoulder surgery, having gone under the knife in the winter to repair a joint he damaged in a motocross accident last season.
