Suzuki insurance customers are being offered a newly-launched security marking and registration system from the manufacturer.
In conjunction with Retainagroup, the system can be installed at authorised Suzuki dealers for £49 and enables anyone to check a bike's identity, protecting the rider against theft.
"We believe this new system offers additional peace of mind. With a combination of overt and covert markings, the Retainagroup system is a great deterrent, but should the unthinkable happen offers owners a much greater chance of recovery," said Suzuki GB's Michael Le-Flay.
A 24-hour telephone line which receives data from the police national computer has been set up to allow Suzuki insurance customers to check the identity of the bike before they buy.
The Home Office has advised all motorcycle insurance customers to invest in both mechanical and electronic security devices to make their machines less attractive to thieves.
